Let me start with saying I think smoothies are great! They are not only delicious but quick and easy to make. And they are packed with all the nutrition that is beneficial for everyone, not just us boomers.
As us baby boomers/seniors, get older, we tend not to eat as well as we should, and smoothies are a great alternative. It could be from the medicines we take, or health issues we are having. Too busy. Whatever the reason is, it is imperative for us to get the proper nutrition, our bodies need. Without it, we become malnourished which can be very dangerous. It can aggravate our current health problems we are having, as well as causing us new health problems. We don’t want or need that. Smoothies to the rescue.
Benefits
You’d be surprised the many different benefits smoothies have. Besides the nutrients, vitamins, antioxidants, etc. There are smoothie recipes for the healthy brain, memory improvement, helping you sleep, complexion, weight loss, heart, kidneys, staying hydrated, improves digestion.
I will occasionally have a smoothie in replacement as a meal, where I might usually skip that meal. In my eyes, a healthy delicious smoothie beats having nothing at all. And there are all kinds of smoothie recipes. I mean all kinds!! If you use it as a meal, some smoothies stay with you longer and make you feel fuller.
